Welcome to The Blue Highway, Aruba's windsurfing and kitesurfing school, owned and run by Jeroen Weststrate — an ex-PWA windsurf professional with a deep passion for the ocean and a commitment to instruction worth remembering.
The Blue Highway is Jeroen's vision of a school where riders can learn, grow, and lose themselves in the thrill of wind and water. A place where beginners find their feet and experienced riders sharpen what they have, all at the laid-back pace of the island itself.
His years as a professional bring real depth, and his patient, friendly way of teaching means you progress at your own speed. He knows the wind patterns and the local conditions well enough to plan a lesson around the day rather than the timetable.
The Weststrates have been sailing this island since long before the school existed. That is the photograph on the wall: Jeroen's father Emile at Westpunt in 1980, on the gear of the day.
Equipment
Jeroen personally selects the boards, sails, kites, harnesses and everything else, for performance and for safety. Beginner or advanced, you are handed kit that suits you and the day's wind — not whatever was left on the rack.
The community
The Blue Highway is a gathering place as much as a school. Riders meet here, swap tips, and end up friends. Jeroen organises social events, group outings and friendly competitions through the season.
